The Stainless Steel Rat (The Stainless Steel Rat, volume 1) by Harry Harrison

Scoundrel "Slippery Jim" DiGriz AKA the Stainless Steel Rat,
so cunning he has two criminal nicknames, has never been outwitted, outmanoeuvred, captured or executed.

Ares 10 (Ares was an SF wargame magazine) had, as its game, "Return of
the Stainless Steel Rat" and (IIRC) a short story of the same title by Harrison.

This was a big deal for the magazine: a known SF writer!

IIRC, it was a solitaire dungeon crawl (of sorts). You could use either
    Jim or Angela.

I used it as the basis of an Aliens TTRPG adventure.
