• MD5

From Rick Smith@1:105/10 to All on Wed Apr 12 07:05:56 2023
    Greetings All!

If this has been covered previously I apologize, I was finally able to purchase aftershock and trying to give it a go here this morning. When I poll my uplink I get "Remote rejected provided password you must support MD5" Now I know the password is correct, and I do have binkd on my system using md5 does aftershock have a place for me to enable that and I missed it, or?

It sounds like your uplink is forcing MD5 connections. I don't think AfterShock supports MD5 currently.

Are you running the system your AfterShock is connecting to?

If it's a Mystic System set MD5 to no, or yes but not forced.

If it's a binkd system don't start binkd with -md5 but use that on the node lines when you know MD5 is supported.

It's a bad idea to force MD5 since it's not supported by all mailers.

I switched it off and now aftershock connects just fine.. Will now see if I can get it to pass mail back and fourth
