"He solved the problem very quickly. He did the right thing. Good guy," Trump said. However, while Trump's issue with Amazon seems to have been settled, that didn't stop the President's Press Secretary from tying Amazon to Chinese propaganda. The company "partnered with a Chinese propaganda arm," she said.

This makes me wonder if Leavitt was speaking for Trump, the Trump administration in general, or for herself.

She was probably just flinging something at the wall to see if it would
    stick.

Amazon has since confirmed that it had "considered the idea of listing import charges on certain products," however "this was never approved

And I'm not sure if that "consideration" was weighed by Bezos, the Amazon corporation, or what. Doesn't it seem like it would be a dumb move for Amazon though? It would have been like saying "Look at these tariffed prices and thin
about whether or not you still want to buy it." (Passing the blame for high prices does not seem like a good sales maneuver.)

I did think it was a good idea. If the prices are going to go up anyway,
I as a consumer would sure like to know why, whether it is a tariff that
causes it, or some silly tax that my state comes up with. It is good to
    see things itemized.

My electric bill reached historic highs during the Biden administration. Same thing with car insurance, home insurance, and egg prices. And good thing I don't need to buy a car because look at the insane prices on those since Bidenflation began.

It got so bad that I couldn't afford to buy anything on Amazon. (I noticed this when I logged on to Amazon a couple days ago and saw "No purchases in the last 12 months.")

So it annoys me when people start complaining about Trump causing prices to rise, because I haven't seen that happen. (Did Trump cause battery operated drones to go up in price? How about taxidermied animals?) and I'm still waiting for someone to do something about the prices that rose while Biden was in charge.

    (1) Cars have been going up for a while now, even/especially used ones,
    since long before Biden took office;
    (2) Same thing with insurance;
    (3) you have mentioned the electric bill before -- IIRC it was high but actually got higher real recently, like after Trump took office and after
the tariff war with Canada re: electricity supplied to northern tier
    states, right?
    (4) Biden didn't cause bird flu but, yes, you have me on eggs.

when I logged on to Amazon a couple days ago and saw "No purchases in the

Amazon is handy for things you cannot find locally but, a lot of times (and especially if you have a Wal-Mart or other such retailer around) the local prices are going to be better on the things that are available locally.

So it annoys me when people start complaining about Trump causing prices to rise, because I haven't seen that happen. (Did Trump cause battery operated drones to go up in price? How about taxidermied animals?) and I'm still
    aitin
for someone to do something about the prices that rose while Biden was in charge.

I have seen some rise and some stay the same. I have yet to see any fall despite Trump's promises that they would. I was just at the grocery this morning. One food item that I used to be able to buy for $2.50 to $3.00
100 days ago is now closing on $4.50. I didn't buy it this time. Another
had spiked somewhere between 25-30% over the same time frame and I didn't
buy. That was at Wal-Mart. I would hate to price the items at Kroger.

The price of cereal was going up under Biden and has continued going up
since Trump took office. The price of a box has nearly doubled over the
    past ~2 years.

Fuel prices were going down late last year, while Biden was still in
office. They continued going down until at least inauguration day,
possibly a little longer. They have gone back up some since, but are not spiking. Instead of being around $3+ like they were last year, they are
    around $2.50-$2.70 now.

So it annoys me when people start claiming that Trump is causing prices to
go down on anything besides eggs, and it also annoys me when Trump gets in front of a camera and claims that fuel prices are down below $2 when
Gasbuddy can't find any in the continental US that is that price (I have
    not checked today).

The prices posted on the windshields of the cars are shocking. In 2015 I
bought a 2008 Jeep Patriot with about 45k miles for $11k. There's no deal like that around now.

I've been complaining about unprecented electric bills since last summer, and the worst ones started in about November, and they still are out of wack.

I think Trump expects the tariffs to make prices come down, but it's not an overnight process. I expect major improvements by the end of his term.

Can you explain how an additional tax of up to 145 % is supposed to make prices go _down_? The Chinese minimum wage is between 10 and 26 CNY per hour, which is roughly 1.30-3.50 US-$. Do you want to lower the minimum wage to that?

No, but the main reason is that people don't want to buy a new car (yet). So they are hanging on to their old ones, which means lower supply in the used car market, which means higher prices.

And, of course, new car prices are up, but that's mainly because of all the regulation that the feds and states put on them.

I've been complaining about unprecented electric bills since last
summer, and the worst ones started in about November, and they still

I'm getting concerned about that too. Consumers Power is asking for yet another rate increase (the first one hasn't been approved yet) and our Whit-less Tyrant is pushing for more unreliable power sources.

She still can't explain how leveling 1000 acres of virgin forest to put up a solar farm (in Michigan!) will "help the planet". We can see how it helps her cronies, but that's about it.

It's already improved for me. Prices are down to where they were before Bidenomics. And it will go lower as the drilling continues (supply up = price down). Hopefully Trump will do something about oil refinery regulations too.

    What's the deal with eggs?

Because it's the one food that can't be contaminated by chemicals.

Many of us have tried to eat healthy, but find that we simply can't. Our bodies reject this "healthy" food. When researched, we find that most of it is contaminated by chemicals (pestacides, Apeel, etc.).

I used to eat oatmeal most mornings. Nice steel cut (low processed - not the instant junk) oatmeal. It worked great. But a couple of years ago, I started feeling ill after eating them. Shortly after that I found that the FDA OKed the use of pestacides on the oats **after** harvesting.

buy them. The stereotype of US citicens are people eating pizza,
burgers and steak. No eggs involved.

The sterotype is getting old. There are a good many people who eat like that, but more and more are rejecting that style of eating.

And all the industry stuff is based on soy lecitine instead of eggs.

No one who wants to eat healthy eats that stuff.

I think Trump expects the tariffs to make prices come down, but it's n an overnight process.

Can you explain how an additional tax of up to 145 % is supposed to make prices go _down_? The Chinese minimum wage is between 10 and 26 CNY per hour, which is roughly 1.30-3.50 US-$. Do you want to lower the minimum wage to that?

I can't explain it, but I also can't whine about it because it's not hurting me. The media is an expert at turning people into
    hypochondriacs.

Also - I honestly enjoy getting a new game, but I'm to the point in my life where I will never play the ones I already have to the point that I'm tired
of them. :-) Just had a 'gaming weekend' a few weekends ago. Played three games of Terraforming Mars, two of Stone Age, and about a dozen games of

Not complaining, of course, just saying I could NEVER buy a new game again

The prices posted on the windshields of the cars are shocking. In 201 I bought a 2008 Jeep Patriot with about 45k miles for $11k. There's n deal like that around now.

No, but the main reason is that people don't want to buy a new car
(yet). So they are hanging on to their old ones, which means lower
supply in the used car market, which means higher prices.

That's understandable and likely. Personally I also believe that people are still scared about the threat of being forced into EVs. It seems
like all that discussion make the prices go up, and Trump can't quell
that fear in 4 years' time.

I'm one of these that is not scared about EV. I would like to try one
out! The ony thing that bothers me is the range, but 99% of my driving
is to work, around the schools, and back home. Maybe 50 miles a day. When
I travel more than 100 miles one way in a day is when it will become an
    issue for me.

I've been complaining about unprecented electric bills since last summer, and the worst ones started in about November, and they still are out of wack.

I'm getting concerned about that too. Consumers Power is asking for yet another rate increase (the first one hasn't been approved yet) and our Whit-less Tyrant is pushing for more unreliable power sources.

I'd love to quit using electric and start using a gas generator, but I don't think my family in in agreement on that yet. (Imagine telling the electric company that the relationship is over!)

LOL :-) Our house is not perfectly North/South, but close enough that a
solar panel on the 'back' would work. I've started looking into that. Would
be nice to be able to knock my electric bill down to just a few dollars a month, and maybe even 'sell back' some? I was reading about a 'power cell' (don't remember exactly what it was called) that would basically hold spare power so even in an outage your house can still function.

"justify" the price of electric going up.

That sounds nice but I'm skeptical about it. My electric company invited me to join a "solar program" about 5 years ago. They said "you'll get a discount applied to your bill automatically." So I waited and waited and never saw the discount applied. Then the bill started getting ridiculous (like doubled or even tripled) and now a couple months ago I started seeing the credit I've been waiting for on my bill and it's like $3. :)

Most public utilities have a regulation that basically says "if your customer generates power, you have to buy it from them at your rate." So my guess is that the "credit" that they dangled in front of you was the payment for the power you generated.
