From Jim Howarth@1:229/300 to All on Mon May 6 11:52:08 2024
    Hey all,

So I setup FidoNet this weekend and I've done all my echo joins etc.

However I'm finding that when I have the following statements in the stanza's for importing mail etc.. they don't seem to work.

    1:299/426_Config_Item = true

Obviously above is a nonsensical example but I've found this to be happening in
the FileToss section as well as ImportEchomail section of the ini file.

Perhaps I am doing something wrong, I'm not sure. Do all of the config items in that stanza have to be prefixed with the node?

This is what I have for my fidonet section:

    1:229/426_acs_list = S10G3
    1:229/426_acs_read = S10G3
    1:229/426_acs_post = S20G3FA
    1:229/426_acs_sysop = s255
    1:229/426_header = msghead
    1:229/426_read_template = ansimrd
    1:229/426_index_template = ansimlst
    1:229/426_max_msgs = 50000
    1:229/426_max_msgs_age = 36500
    ; true/false type values 0=false 1=true (newscan 2=forced) 1:229/426_use_autosig = 1
    1:229/426_use_realname = 1
    1:229/426_use_ansi = 1
    1:229/426_new_scan = 1
    1:229/426_qwk_scan = 1

The other sections of the stanza are as written in the original ini file.

Anyone else have this issue? or am I doing something wrong?

    1:299/426_Config_Item = true

1:229/426 like the other settings might help.

That was my example string. :)

There are only a few values that can be overridden using the default and for auto creation of message bases its really just the list, read, post, system, and echomgr ACS options as well as the "use realname" option.

It doesn't support header and template values mostly because no one has ever asked for that and I never saw anyone use it that way. But if you actually have different headers and templates from the default settings for each individual network I will add it for you so that you can specify some of those other values you have there.

.... Press SPACEBAR once to abort, or twice to save changes

Good to know, thank you :) I've started to get quite aquainted with those sections doing a lot of trial and error.

This is something I'm actually considering, but your global change feature will take care of that when I get to that stuff.

On a slightly differnt topic.. whats the possibility of having all the netmail
crash/direct/all the flags availble in edit mode or creat message mode in future releases.. I'm told GoldEd does this.. but mystic already has almost everything so why would I possibly want another piece of software lol :) It would be cool if we could do things like file requests via netmail in mystic.

You did an ansi for my board Clockwork Orange many years ago.. I wish it got more exposure. I'd use it but I didn't want to bring that part of my life back.

    Jim
