No, the reason is that it is a restricted medication. It is for you
alone, you are not allowed to pass it on. If you pass it on (or worse,
sell it), the police will be onto you if they find out.

This is the same in many countries, with variations on the procedure.

Most probably, if you don't fill the ID number, you will not get the medication.

What Firefox doesn't do is forms with javascript code. The only software
I know that does them are Adobe's. There may be some other Windows
software that does it in Windows (I don't know which), and none on Linux.

Notice that this is dangerous. You could download a book, and everytime
you open it, the editors can be told about it. They will know if you
copy the PDF and give it to some one. And of course, the code can be malicious. Thus, many viewers do not even try to support these forms,
but several government tax agencies use them.

Tax agencies use them because they can do field validation, and
automated filling of other fields based on calculations on the input data.

so I was happy to have a small simple program for forms, although it's
only in the prior computer and I'm not going to install it in this one because of those annoying popups. My new pain doctor gave me 12 pages

You be careful with the pain meds, OK.

We lost another poster, after they casually announced
they'd just been given "powerful" pain medication.
My conclusion is, the medication really was powerful :-/

If you're going to screw with sedatives, you should
at least have a house-mate for safety. That doesn't guarantee
survival on a mistake, only improves the odds slightly
you can be rescued.

And knowing the doctor, the doctor likely didn't give
you a lecture on the side-effects (such as breathing
suppressed to the point you pass away).

You should run the name of the med through
at least one web page, and get the contraindications
for it. A pharmaceutical index (book with blue cover)
has the information, and some web pages reproduce a
portion of it. The doctor receives a new blue book, once
a year (with new meds added).

None of the doctors at my clinic, can prescribe pain
medications any more. They've had their pain med
permissions taken away. The rules are very strict
for doctors. The filling out of forms, is only
part of it.

And pain-med-seeking individuals still attend the clinic.
Even though the pain-med status of the attending
doctors is listed on the board, up front. It's not
like the pain-med status of the doctor is a secret,
it's displayed next to their name

Can't prescribe pain meds.
Can't treat children.
Will not fill out forms for Workmans Compensation.

And so on.

As a joke, one of the interns at the clinic, if
you present with back pain, he will tell you

"You should try yoga".

To which I would reply

"Ok, write me a prescription for some yogurt"

the code is still not recognizable to the eye. Which is an

Is it considered to be a Notification ?

Maybe you can look through the phone-interface of the OS
and "turn off Notifications for Adobe Acrobat Reader" or something.

It popped-up for me a few days after I installed Acrobat, but I didn't
catch what process it was created by, so I've left Process Explorer
running all week, and it just popped-up again, I dragged the cross-hairs onto it and it is coming from ShellExperienceHost.exe ... so Adobe have wedged themselves in there.

Anyway, if you look in Acrobat, there's a [...] menu towards the
top-right corner, in there is a yes/no option.

It's the 64bit continuous release Acrobat reader (it's presently
offering a free trial of the Pro version, hopefully it'll give that up

keeps offering to take over as default.

You might remember my intel gfx driver got hosed a few weeks back when I wanted to monitor temperatures after disabling memory compression, I
tried nbfc, speedfan and hwmonitor, and between them something really
upset the machine, I had to backup, flatten and reinstall win11, now
I've forced the latest non-lenovo, non-windows-update, drivers from
intel, disabled driver updates and everything is rock solid, just
getting round to reinstalling all the odds and ends, hence the new
acrobat install.

Afaik, Windows 10/11 still requires configuring default program
settings(and their file types) in Windows, not the application software.

Other methods(hack, tweak, Intune[modify the installer]) may also
work(e.g. registry value changes; GPO; DISM command-line string), and/or
use of an Adobe exe in elevated mode(ADelRCP.exe).

Not to be confused with configuring browser settings for pdf(download,
open settings etc.)

Over the years I've always used the Adobe Acrobat Reader app as a
default and never had a popup problem so apparently refusing the
default's the only way you get the popups? I mostly use the reader to
make the File Explorer preview pane work but occasionally have used the
app directly. There ARE ads in the app itself but again no popups and
not all that annoying (to me) for the free service I get. (Kinda like
the ads in the online newspapers I read for free...)

I recently acquired this laptop and since it has a local account I got
the app directly from the Adobe site since the MS store won't work.
There are no popup problems (so far) but apparently that's apparently
because it's happy being a default. And of course if I really want to
use another app or browser to open a PDF file I can just right click and choose from the list. Easy peasy.

BTW on an earlier subject of upgrading this 23H2 laptop's 64GB storage
so that I could install 24H2 (Windows complained of not enough room) I
was successful. The C: drive now has 437GB free. But since the storage
upgrade Windows has not offered to do the 24H2 upgrade. Can't win. And
again please no suggestions (the Internet's full of em...). I'm just
gonna wait until the 23H2 security abandonment deadline. My guess? A grandkid's probably gonna get this laptop toy...

installed Adobe on the new computer yet, or the other one.ÿÿ And they've
made it much more likely that I won't.

I guess you did not find out how to kill that pop up from appearing?

He could use Revo Uninstaller like I did. Free, and will rip out adobe crap-ware by the roots ... not a trace left in the registry or any files.

There are other uninstallers too, but revo is the only one I've
personally used and able to reccomend.
I suspect any of then would get rid of his adobe infection.

You'll never have a moment's peace with any adobe stuff installed ... ever.
