I would prefer to exclude .lnk files. When I "run" a file (e. g. am
mp3) from everything's search results (or almost anywhere else, such
as File Manager), a .lnk appears in my Recent - fair enough, but of
course it also matches the search criteria that found it, so the
    everything window shows it too.

I've looked through its menus, but the most hopeful looking one -
    Tools | Options | Indexes | Exclude - didn't work.

Contains "excluded folders and file types" in the PDF. (311 Pages)

    Thanks for that link.

I was _nearly_ there: I had put

    .lnk

in the exlcude box. Turns out that putting

    *.lnk

    worked!

I can't find the exclude box. Where is it?

Paul's answer will work _every_ time.
If you want a less drastic, one-time exclusion, just add to your query "!.lnk"

Tools | Options | "Exclude" is third from bottom on left | "Exclude
files" is then bottom on right.

On second look, there it is. Thanks.

(That's in "Version 1.4.1.1026 (x86)", but probably the same in most.
[I just tried "check for updates" and it said it was the latest.])
