Why am I still getting Windows 10 Security Updates (KB5072653).

2025-11 Security Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based
    Systems (KB5072653)

I have done nothing to officially enroll in Microsoft Extended Updates

Note that KB5072653 itself is not a typical security fix as it's a
Licensing Preparation Package that ensures ESU updates install correctly.

    Prerequisite:
Requires the October 2025 update (KB5066791) to be installed first

    This doesn't exist:
    Win+I > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > View update
    history
    This only exists:
    Win+I > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Enroll now

The AppWiz control panel applet shows only two updates since October
    14th.
    Win+R > appwiz.cpl > View installed updates
Where on 11/12/2025 I received "Servicing Stack 10.0.19041.6465".
    <https://i.postimg.cc/K8jvFDmH/windowsupdates20251202.jpg>

Apparently the servicing stack update (SSU) is the component of Windows Update that installs updates (because without SSUs, cumulative updates
    like
monthly security patches can fail to install or cause errors).

Apparently I received KB5072653 because Microsoft pushed it out as a
special licensing fix for Windows 10 systems after the official end of support in October 2025.
    a. The November ESU update (KB5068781) failed to install on many systems,
    throwing error 0x800f0922.
    b. KB5072653 is a Licensing Preparation Package that fixes this bug
so ESU updates can install correctly.

It seems I got KB5072653 not because I'm still in mainstream support, but because Microsoft needed to ensure all systems could handle ESU licensing properly.

Apparently Microsoft SSUs and KB5072653 work together essentially forming
the 'last layer' of Windows 10 updates after the 10/14/2025 end of
    support.

I still get near daily updates for my Win 7 Pro machines. It works for me
    so why upgrade?

End of Life Maddness is just the vendors way to get you to buy their latest useless features while they further control what you can do and what they
know about what you are doing.
