I did test Win 11. But then I rolled back to Win 10. :)

You have nothing but time on your hands, and
testing these things is pretty simple.

    +------+-------------+---------------+------------------+-------------------- - - - -+
    | MBR | ESP (FAT32) | C: Windows 10 | System Reserved | Install Win11 here | GPT partitioned disk
    +------+-------------+---------------+------------------+-------------------- - - - -+

Boot the Win11 DVD, select Custom and add a partition for the install, down near the end. That will make your computer a multi-boot. My daily driver
    is a multi-boot setup.

Some computers come with extremely low-capacity primary storage,
and then you can't do that.

    Everyone has their reasons.

....but the above sounds exactly like the same justification/rationale
many claimed/opined for staying on Windows 7 instead of Windows 10 for
at least 5 year after Windows 10 was released(RTM 2015).

i.e. same old/same old, history repeating, deja vu....

    Imo...
    - if the device is capable of Win11 without hacking install system requirements => install Win11
    - if the device is not capable of Win11 system requirement and running
Win10 => continue use of ten yr old Win10 with ESU until ESU no longer available(as a free or fee based option)

At this point, with all of us having predated the existence of Windows, I'd agree wholeheartedly with Winston, where, if I could, I'd downgrade to
Win11 but Microsoft won't let me, so Windows 10 will be my DD for a while.

For me, I'd have to buy a whole new PC to even begin to think about Win11.

If anyone can find anything of any real use to me on Windows 11 that isn't
on Windows 10, I'd be all ears though, as that would sweeten the poison.

Ironic... I can think of plenty of things that *aren't* in W11 that
*are* in W10. AFAICT, W11 is just more regressions in functionality
along with more advertising and a difficult (for some)-to-avoid MS
    account requirement.

My laptop is eligible for W11, but I keep it as far away from the
internet as possible. It keeps telling me that Windows Security's
signature files aren't up to date, but oh well...

I get zero advertising. Having only a local account (as I have) is
some work, but not at all "difficult" for users in these groups. If you
want it very simple, just use Windows Pro, which can be had for some
$20, if that. (My wife's Mini-PC came with Pro.)

There are ways to keep it on Windows 10, without the 'threat' of 11,
so you would get Definition Updates and (ESU) Security Updates. Paul can probably point you to the right 'shutup' tool.

Enroll in ESU via the o/s prompt option
    or
Use this powershell script which also works with a local account
    <https://github.com/abbodi1406/ConsumerESU>

By default, the script will run in the following order, if a step
    failed, the next is executed:

Enroll using Microsoft account currently logged-in as Windows user.
Enroll using Microsoft account currently logged-in with Microsoft Store.
    Enroll using current Local account.
    </qp>

i.e. a MSFT account is not necessary to enroll in ESU

You can download a Defender Update, put it on a USB stick, and
load it into your air-gapped W10 machine.

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/defenderupdates

That would at least keep the signatures up to date.

Note that the files are also available for older OSes.

You can use grc.com "incontrol.exe" to lock the W10 machine to 22H2
so W11 cannot try to come in. It's just three or four registry entries.
Before I got that program, I'd done it on one machine by hand, with
some regedits. But GRC knew of one extra regedit.

There used to be a whole section of "controls" like that, and
Microsoft didn't remove them when they were obsolete. That's why it is
easy to miss the right ones, for a particular "controlled by your organization" task.

    Hi Winston,
Can you confirm a MSFT account is not needed to enroll in the free Windows
10 ESU becuase I tried in November (as I recall) but MS closed the loophole in middle'ish October last year (even as I had changed the registry keys).

Is the loophole still there that you can enroll in Win10 ESU w/o a MSA?

    Already did.
Read how the Powershell script works in the previous Github link's information.
