• Scroll button problem

From Jim the Geordie@3:633/10 to All on Thu Apr 2 00:51:21 2026
    Default browser is M$ Edge.
I have always used the middle/scroll mouse button to open links in new
tab or to open all tabs in a group.
The button works fine when scrolling but now does not work as described
    above.
I have restarted Edge and done a full reboot to no avail.

Are you sure the button still works? Click on any post to make it turn
blue and highlighted, and then click down in the area you're reading.
If it is working the highlight will go away from the post you clicked
on. If it stays highlighted, it's broke.

You could also try going to this website and testing the button: https://www.onlinemictest.com/mouse-test/

That will tell you if your button is registering not. It's always worked
    for me.

    ?
    Posts in Edge?
Afaics, the user is querying about links in a browser
    - i.e. not posts, but a link on a web page that opens a new tab in
Edge(for the link) when clicking/pressing the mouse scroll button.

    Check your mouse settings.
    Settings/Bluetooth and Devices/Mouse or Control Panel/Mouser
    - If mouse is using Setpoint software, more button choices are
    configurable.

    sticks,

Science Doesn't Support Darwin. Scientists Do

The bible doesn't support god, humans do.

    The difference is that :

scientists come up with answers *everyone* may question

    and that

religion comes up with answers *noone* may question.

I once met someone who claimed that the world was created 5000 years ago (a common claim in the christian world). I told them that it was actually created at 12:03 last friday, and that all their knowledge of having a life before that where just dinosaur bones. They blue-screened.

I think you might be right. I guess its broke (with any browser) CTRL+Left-click does the same job I suppose.

A pity because I just went back to a wired mouse, because I have trouble
with touching the right button by accident with my small wireless mouse.

Have you considered buying a bigger wireless mouse?

My main webshop puts their mice in three categories - small, medium,
large - with size ranges for width and 'length'. When I wanted to buy a wireless mouse, I found my wife's one too small, so I bought a medium
size one: Logitech M330 Silent (silent touch), a nice size and indeed
    quite silent (when clicking).

I never knew about scroll wheel doing open-in-new-tab until you
mentioned it. (Possibly because my touchpad doesn't have one, though I
do use an external mouse.) I just use right-click and top option (which
is often just one press of down).

Ever since my ancient uSoft mouse died every mouse I've tried has to
be left-clicked three times before the Firefox scroll tab will work.
Worse on some sites than others. I would love to cripple the mice's
fantastic functions and have a tame mouse that behaves.
