• Flashback to a classic rant (caution, strong language)

I can't help but laugh at this one:

Sometimes that's exactly how I feel about W10 myself.

Warning though, this rant is profane in the extreme.

Man, the screenshot in the original post gave me the feels. I miss Win 7
days so bad, it's unreal. And for the record, yes, I was one of the
people who was pissed back in the Win 8 and Win 10 days as well. The
only reason I switched to Win 10 eventually was because of work, nothing
    else

Re W7, me too. But even then if it wasn't for Open Shell, I would have
gone back to XP (which I used Classic Shell on.) My Start Menu and
Explorer still look like W98SE. The day I don't have the option of using
Open Shell will be the day I move on to another OS.

Seems like with every Windows update, MS lies that the new version is
faster, has more features and helps you get things done faster. Truth is
that moving to a new version always involves a tremendous effort on my
part and rage at the ongoing regressions in functionality.

At first when I moved to W10, all my hardware seemed to be working
correctly. Then following one update, my beloved Canon Canoscan 8400F
scanner quit working. It was also around that time that I discovered
that my Logitech X-540 5.1 speaker system would only put out stereo.

Eventually I was able to deal with those failures, but that I had to
waste so much of my precious time doing so still pisses me off whenever
    I think about it.

As does the relentless privacy assaults.

W11? If I ever do use that hated version, I'll be running it on the
cheapest computer available that will allow me to surf the internet and
get email. My other, and main computer will be running an older version
of Windows (or some other OS) and will be air-gapped.

I printed off my taxes on Windows 7. I do my email on Windows 7.

Other than that, Windows 11 is fine :-) If you get my drift.

When they ask you to enter your age in *all* your OSes,
I'll be back to Windows 7 by then. So what if I have to
write my own browser to do it.

    I get the sentiment.

Over the years I never had any issues handing over stuff, since it was
always on my terms. But now, as I grow older, I prefer having my privacy.

Not to mention that I'm one of the people who is ready to go out of my
way to do the things the way *I* want, not the way I HAVE to. So, if
they demand having my age, they will have to learn to deal with that
demand not being met, no matter the price they put on it.
