Agreed. (And I do it as much as anyone!)
If the content changes greatly, it's sometimes considered polite to
amend the subject. (In the case of this thread, it didn't need it, as
the subject was just "Microsoft Edge"; the thread changed from one
aspect of Edge to another.)
If you use the form
<new subject> (was: Re: <old subject>)
, it is even recognised by some newsreaders, which continue the thread
under that form for one post, and trim the part in (brackets) from any
followup posts.
