That's true, but banks have their legal reasons to not do that.
Basically, you have to manually certify that each copy is indeed a
veritable copy.
Where are the banks that do that?
I have bank accounts in the US, Canada, UK, and France. They all keep
nagging me to switch to online statements, no paper at all.
Also, you know, if I were a Bad Person(TM), I would print out two versions
of the document, then throw away the original of one and the carbon of
the other. Heh, heh.
