I also touched many PS/2 computers physically. They are no more now. But
I like their metal chassis...
A very satisfying 'thunk' from the handle of a PS/2 Model 80 falling
back into place ...
I took a job in 2018, they'd almost completed the migration from AS/400s
to Windows servers. Still had a huge server room, raised floors,
outlines where the Big Iron sat - and one remaining AS/400 left to be decomissioned.
In one of the offices, they had a PS/2 model 80 running OS/2. Model M
keyboard, one of those steel-balled IBM mice, IBM 8514 and an IBM
branded 4090 laser printer. Connected to it was a DLT drive, they used
it for restore jobs from the backup server.
That was the exact kit I used when I started my career in 1991...
