OK TOH entries. Actually it struck me near the end that each story is
set in a different time (none the present): the 70s, 1995, and the far
future. (Even the intro makes reference to the longevity of the show,
though it's set in the present I guess.) Does that mean anything? Maybe
not. It's quite a paradox that the far-future characters find the
Springfield inhabited by their exact counterparts, though. (Nice blend
of animation styles in the last one, especially once it became
plot-relevant.)
Also a curious set of guest voices, esp. since there didn't seem to be
any hype and I only realized who most of them were in the end credits. A
rare Matt Groening cameo is the only one I did recognize. Of note, as
well, may be the return of Michael Keaton (CABF05) if the spooky credit
isn't referring to someone else, and Viola Davis (as Maggie?) in a
segment where her real self appears on a gossip magazine.
(And speaking of spooky names: "Rank A** Area"? The TV-14 rating
couldn't cover an uncensored version of what's now a fairly tame joke?)
Previous episode stuff (probably missed a bunch)
5F20: Simpson & Son Grease is back (yet in an astounding lack of payoff
the lard jug seen in act 3 is not a callback)
3F04: For what it's worth, TOH VI aired 10/30/95, one day before
Krusty's special; that also contained Homer?, where the groundbreaking
3D model of Homer looks a lot like the "plastic" version tonight
DABF03: "Sugar, free donuts" are back
Goof
Matt Selman's EP credit contains the phrase "Judgematt day", but
although judgment can be spelled with or without an E in the middle
(without is more common in Amurika), this is specifically a Terminator 2 reference and T2 spells it without. It should be "Judgmatt day". I
really hope somebody got fired for that blunder.
