Classic Batman & Wonder Woman TV Show Suits Sold for a Whopping Price
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
Batman suits may seem expensive on camera, but they can fetch an
equally bloated amount in an auction, as evidenced by the sale of one
such set of costumes. At a recent resale event, Adam West's vintage
costumes from the 1966 Batman show went under the hammer and ended up
recouping just under $1 million, effectively overshadowing the sale
of Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman suit.
Batman TV show suits get sold for almost $1 million
On October 24, Heritage Auctions conducted the sale of the
'Television Treasures Collection' amassed by pop-culture collector
extraordinaire Dr. Stewart Berkowitz, which included iconic outfits
from several TV shows, including Star Trek, Happy Days, as well as
    Batman.
At the said auction, suits from the Dark Knight's 1966 series brought
in the most amount of money, with Batman and Robin's costumes, worn by
Adam West and Burt Ward, respectively, raking in a combined $575,000.
Meanwhile, the purple outfit donned by Cesar Romero's Joker sold for
$212,000, with Yvonne Craig's Batgirl suit going for $87,500. Julie
Newmar's Catwoman costume and Burgess Meredith's Penguin suit also
fetched big bucks, going for $68,750 and $46,250, respectively.
As such, the combined total recouped by the aforementioned Batman
suits amounted to $989,500, shocking everyone. However, the collective
sale value of the Batman memorabilia would exceed the $1 million mark
if you were to include the Batcave's Batscanner console and Batman's
Batarang and holster, which brought in $150,000 and $50,000,
    respectively.
In sharp contrast, Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman costume, which the
Hollywood veteran wore in her titular 1975-79 ABC-CBS series,
realized $225,000. The outfit not only came with the iconic red,
white, and blue corset but also included the Themysciran's golden
cuff bracelets and her Lasso of Truth.
Other notable items to go under sale included two of Winkler's
Fonzie leather jackets from ABC's?Happy Days ($87,500 and $75,000),
two iterations of William Shatner's Captain Kirk costumes from NBC's?
Star Trek ($62,500 and $52,500), and Barbara Eden's pink harem costume
from NBC's?I Dream of Jeannie ($42,500), among others.
For the unversed, Dr. Stewart Berkowitz was an avid collector and eBay
contributor who passed away in 2024 at the age of 64.
