• bill c-11, has passed into law

The controversial Bill C-11 is now law.

I wonder who will be the arbiter of "Canadian content" and how
will this skew one's choices during a media search for content.

C-11 is not intended to affect personal content loaded to YT or
    TikTok, however.

But what can go go wrong, eh?

What does C-11 do exactly? Protect Canadians from outside views?

I wonder if it applies to this echo? :O

At first glance, it seems to just target big streaming audio-
video companies to insist upon their seach algorithms to
    prioritize Canadian content.

That would be a hoot. But.. not at all. The Bill targets
    commercial media companies.

However, in its broad language, I wonder if they want
accomodate things like Telegram, Discord, or other "chat"
    channels in the future.

I haven't gone into the fine print but mainly it has to do with Streaming entertainment and keeping a certain percentage of that as Canadian content
so it may effect what video is Offered to Canadians.

I doubt it would effect something like this where content is voluntary
and there is no control over where it is sent from, and often no way to
even know where it was sent from, at least not to outsiders.

i.e.. It likely appears that I am posting from the USA where in actuality
I'm Canadian accessing the BBS from Canada for the past 25 years or so.. B)

So if I could trick my devices into thinking I am in Canada, I might be
offered even more Letterkenny videos? :)
