the Canadian dollar, also known as a central bank digital

This will make it easier for them to freeze the assets of protesters.

They're trying to do the same thing with the Euro. Get absolutely rid of paper money, make all transactions visible for the tax-collector and tax the shit out of everything, especially the tips of low-wage earning waitresses who are considered the worst tax-evaders.

The same universal story ... try to screw the small incomes and waive the big earners through.

Well, the gov't seems to be able to control the banks and reach
into people's bank accounts and do whatever they want right now
    anyway.

They ARE suggesting that cash will still be legal tender
(primarily to support the unbanked, I presume), ..but as a
generation dies off and younger people embrace pure digital
transactions, they will have motive to discontinue printing
    cash at any time thereafter.

I find that young people avoid cash if they can.

Wasn't is Sweden (or was it Switzerland) that conducted an all-
digital trial for several months or up to a year, and it was
considered a failure and unfeasible in the long run?

I don't see all digital to succeed. What would happen during an
outtage when cell towers are down and the electrical system is
down? How will people arrange to get supplies/food?

All digital will certainly be to the gov't/tax advantage.

Perhaps the resultant economy will be a mix of a country's CBDC
and one of the cryptos. The public just has to embrace one of
    the cryptos for "personal/private" transactions.

I concur. But there is more of us than the big earners.
Combined, the small earner incomes vastly out number the few
big earner incomes? And of course, politicians park themselves
in the big earner category and would want to protect themselves
    from scrutiny.

I can see this, but I can also see that generation regretting their
    decision.
