Humanoid robots wont be the future: purpose-built robots will

I always wondered why, if you wanted a robot to clean windows, you'd
design it with legs to move and arms that could snap a human spine.
Unless there was another agenda in place?

When I was younger, I assumed some people would want them to be able to interact with a human as a human would.

Let's design the future science fiction writers warned us about!

As I have gotten older, I would rather them be not so "human like." Sort
of like the robot vacuum cleaners... no arms, no legs, etc., and are not as likely to kill us.

All things being equal, I'd rather meet my end fighting a terminator
bot than being strangled in my sleep by an intelligent canister vacuum
    cleaner.

Time to make sure we enact Asimov's 3 laws - and in the right order!

Hmmm, I didn't consider that they might figure out how to climb furnature!

    Yes.
