Tropical Cyclone Biparjoy formed over the Arabian Ocean on June 5,
2023. By the next day it had reached Very Severe Cyclonic Storm status,
with maximum sustained winds peaking at 95 mph (153 km/h) on June 7.

When the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on board
NASA’s Aqua satellite acquired a true-color image of Very Severe
Cyclonic Storm Biparjoy on June 9, the storm was on a weakening trend,
with maximum sustained winds near 75 mph (121 km/h). According to the
Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC), the storm was located about 594
miles (956 km) south of Karachi, Pakistan and was tracking northward.
The storm is expected to intensify over the next 36 hours, then should
begin to weaken as it approaches the coast of India and Pakistan.
