• CHRS: UTF-8 4

    My patch for making JamNNTPd use "CHRS: UTF-8 4"

    Edit nntpserv.c and replace this:

    sprintf(line,"CHRS: %s 2",chrs);

    by this:

    if(stricmp(chrs,"UTF-8")!=0) sprintf(line,"CHRS: %s 2",chrs);
    else strcpy(line,"CHRS: UTF-8 4");

    My patch for making JamNNTPd use "CHRS: UTF-8 4"

    Why?

    After all those years, since that EXTRA "4" was suggested, there's still not a single editor known to man (or at least me) that actually uses it, or breaks by improper use of it. Has one such editor eventually surfaced?

    Conning people is easy. You just need to overcome their intelligence. But convincing people they've been conned is much harder. You need to overcome their pride.

    This old and decrepid (almost completely abandoned) software is currently kind of being worked on and updated. Can you say anything positive about that, instead?
