• Netrunner responds with Garbage in SSH...

From Martin Kazmaier@1:340/1101 to All on Wed Mar 5 16:12:00 2025
On an SSH connection to shsbbs.net with the credentials bbs:shsbbs netrunner and other bbs terms give me garbage from windows. From linux, they're fine. From Putty, ZOC or the ssh commandline it's fine. Can anything be done to
fix this? I'm merely using the openssh daemon to call a mystic telnet
    session to my BBS.

I appears to me when I connected, that the 'garbage' seen is actually data sent in the wrong or incompatible character set. I'm using UTF8 by default (as most Linux/Unixes would; however, when I switched to Latin-1 (MSDOS 8bit), it correctly displays your opening ANSI graphic page.

I would look to set about the character set settings with the connection and BBS to resolve.

    Good Luck,
    Scott

I was using OpenSSH in Windows, which only support UTF8. Now I'm using a Mystic SSH server and all is well.
