Finally, the EU is showing some backbone

The EU has filed a case with the WTO against the US. The reason is the fact that the 'at random' imposed import tariffs are a violation of WTO rules.
You are allowed to impose import tariffs, but there must be a justification for them. I can guarantee that Trump doesn't have one, at least not one that the WTO will agree with.
Then the question is what will happen next, because knowing Trump, he would rather withdraw from the WTO than concede.
You should also know that the rulings of the WTO are no longer binding.
In fact, the entire WTO has become a paper tiger, and that's because of Trump, who already crippled the organization in 2019, and Biden has done nothing about it since.
The solution is to negotiate, but then the US has to know where it wants to go.
That is the big problem with the Trump administration. They are quick with import tariffs, but they cannot formulate goals for where it should lead. That makes negotiation so difficult.
In fact, Trump is all about the press moment and the chance to show other leaders that he can pee further than anyone else. Figuratively speaking, because Diaper Don doesn't have any of that under control in reality anymore.
