Why Doctor Who Isn't Being Changed by Disney
    --------------------------------------------

By all accounts, going forward with "Season 1" (Series 1/
Series 14/Season 40 - your choice), we are going to see this
new direction incorporating more fantasy along with our
science fiction, as it streams worldwide.ÿ

And it is slated to be lighter and have "more fun and joy"
thrown into it, and it might indeed feel more like Disney in
some ways. But let's be clear for the record - the main force
behind that is not going be Disney.

That will be Russell T Davies.

I am a firm believer that - just as in 2005 - "Doctor Who" in
20023/2024 is RTD's vision of the show... nothing more nothing less.

Disney are an easy scapegoat for anything that the fans don't like as
a lot of Doctor Who fans are precious about their favourite show and
hate the idea that it has any connection with a company that [say it
quietly] made Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck cartoons... and films with Princesses in pink too. But it's clear from the comments RTD has made
about the show, the walking Davros (for example), that it's his idea
of what he thinks about social issue that has driven some of his
    decision, not input from Disney.

Agamemnon goes on about the "Indian" Isaac Newton, which I still
think could be a alternate universe thing, mainly because of the
"mavity" thing. But if it's not, I highly doubt that it was Disney
that said "cast an Indian looking dude as Isaac Newton", or they said
"we've put money in to the show we want singing Goblins"! So yeah, I
think that article is right, the main force is RTD.

Dave's mind works on a dogmatic basis; if anyone mentions
Disney, he automatically replies with something about HHGTTG.

Which might have been relevant in 2005... IF anybody actually
    cared! <rolls eyes>

    You can see the influence

I can see what a bigger budget can do to a TV show, but that has
nothing to do with the movie adaptation of a radio show from nearly
    twenty years ago.

Do you recall seeing the 2005 movie?

Vaguely. It's not something that I was in a hurry to re-watch.
(Maybe if I had of been ten years old at the time!)

    Ha! Ha!!

Imagine if Doctor Who was made in Russia. The Doctor would be defending
the glory of the Russian Empire against alien invaders.

    Cybermen embodied Communism.

Interesting. Can you expand on the parallels by writing a short essay
about that? What examples from the show (or expanded media, if applicable) make the Cybermen similar to Communists?

Ever saw Tomb of the Cybermen?

Many years ago. Can you write a paragraph or two explaining which parts
of that story (and/or other stories) illustrate how the Cybermen
    embodied Communism?
