SEASON TWO - EPISODE FOUR - LUCKY DAY

    Best episode of the season.

If every Dr Who story has to have a message then today's lesson is about conspiracy theories. Taking aim at YouTube creators as well as the live
video streamers who seem to be anti-everything, LUCKY DAY features a
bunch of these cynical social media types who question alien invasions
of Earth, the threat of them, as well as UNIT's role in stopping them. Believing it all to be nothing but fake news, with UNIT stealing public
    money to create super weapons.

Contradictions abound here, as Conrad, the leader of this group, as a
child watched the Tardis materialise in the opening scene which has to
prove - as seen with his own eyes - some sort of extra-terrestrial
presence on Earth. As an adult why then would he not believe in there
being alien threats to Earth? He's seen the Dr & Belinda step out of
this special box that just appears out of nowhere. How did he explain
that? Extra-terrestrials cannot be fake news if you've actually met one. Following stories of this blue box, hunting down Ruby Sunday then
creating a fake alien invasion which UNIT actually responded to also
doesn't make any sense. If UNIT really were a fake organisation and
there was no such thing as extra-terrestrial threats to Earth, why would
Conrad and his Think_Tank group expect UNIT to respond? The fact UNIT
did turn up at reports of an alien invasion contradicts this groups
thinking straight away. - These types are not the brightest buttons are
    they?

LUCKY DAY is also more Ruby Sunday's story than a proper adventure in
time and space with our good Dr, meaning Ncuti Gatwa didn't have too
much to do during the story, whilst Varada Sethu had even less. Which on
the whole seemed to work out okay. BLINK was a doctor lite episode which
is fairly well received in fandom, meaning LUCKY DAY shouldn't be judged
on the Dr's role being a minor one as the story itself was good and i
found it enjoyable enough to award it an eight out of ten.

This season has got better and better, week by week. Even though the
noise surrounding the show seems to be getting louder and louder with
the doom laden voices of the self styled uber fans trying to make out
that Dr Who is the worst thing that has ever been on the tv. If they
look further they'll find plenty of real garbage dressed up as
entertainment. Dr Who isn't the worst show out there by any means and
LUCKY DAY was a very good episode.
