I remember John Lennon's 1970s girlfriend May Pang used to post on the
Beatles newsgroup a couple of decades ago.

What did it cost her to obtain a restraining order against you?

I wasn't on Usenet newsgroups at the time.

Former poetry newsgroup regular Jim Senetto knee May Pang personally, or
    claimed to.

    🙂

Well, if he did knee her, you can be sure that she had it coming!

:-) That's not as effective on a woman as it is on a man. We will have
someone try it on the Donkey to kick him into singing the high notes.

    Fake news. Donkey can't sing.

In which inn did you win this award? The Douchebag's Arms?

I'm told he was the only nominee. And the only one that voted.

All the same, I'm just as stunned as you are that he still won.

The Power of the FAIL must have been busy with Kluckles the KKKlown at
    that moment.

He's bragging about his "Perky" award again. The local newspaper gave
out Perkys to *all* of its subscribers who paid the entrance fee.
Contestants would fill in their category of choice. There were Perkys
for Best Barber, Best Laundromat, Best Burger Flipper, Best Janitor,
Best 1st Grade Assistant Teacher, Best Little League Coach, Best Bar
Patron, Best Front-Porch Sitter, Best Grandma, etc. They handed out approximately 1,000 Perkys a year.

Basically, a $25 entrance fee bought you a "Winner" listing in the paper
and a "Perky" award (a $2 wall plaque with what appeared to be a
miniature barbell on it). The newspaper made out like a bandit.

It wasn't a prestigious award or even competitive. It was more of a participation trophy, as you say. It doesn't even seem to exist, except
in Will Dockery's posts. No one else who received one seems to be proud
    of it. "Pay to play."

I need to get slrn and leafnode set up before I can make complete

Almost everyone left Usenet when Google Groups shut down.

Basically, the only regular posters on the poetry newsgroups are George
Dance, NancyGene, Jordy, Harry Lime aka Pendragon, Cujo, Rachel and me

    Have fun.

NancyGene and I are not regular posters here, Donkey.

I've only just stopped by to play with my latest toy (AI Image
    Generator).

All of the former "Regulars" (myself and NancyGene included) have
relocated to The Official AAPC Facebook page.

The images are great, but the Donkey smell here is pretty much
    overpowering.
