• Dr. Who Day

Today (November 23) is Dr. Who Day.

And I have a Ph.D. and when people hear or read my name
they may say “Who?” or perhaps confuse me with the
Rolling Stone writer (R.I.P.), who I think may have posted
to soc.religion.shamanism (which has been abandoned by
    its moderators) before me.

How does that work? Is no one able to post, or is it now operating as
    an unmoderated group?

No one is able to post.

But alt.religion.shamanism is an unmoderated group.

No one is able to post.

Thanks. I have only ever used one moderated newsgroup, and it was a
long time ago. I don't even remember which one. I think it was
something techincal when I had a brief need for some work questions or something.

I seem to recall that it worked differently than some other moderated
groups, in that you could get whitelisted, but I might misremember as
    well.

There aren't any moderators of high enough intelligence to satisfy me.
I use Devil's Advocate, third degree, and sometimes like to rebuke other posters.

Some might say a killfile is a good a moderator as any.
