Navola. Paolo Bacigalupi.
I loved his short stories, The Wind Up Girl and especially The Water
Knife but I am a third of the way through Navola and am disppointed. In
a standard fantasy setting, the world's richest craftiest banker's son
is being prepared to take over. He has an adopted sister whose family
was destroyed by his father whose prize possession is an apparently
malevolent dragon's eye which contains the dragon's soul. Anyone see
where this might go? I don't care and will read no further unless
someone advises that there will be a dramatic about turn, that there is
an increase from snail pace.
