    Rowley was apparently asked for a sequel but declined. I get the
    impression that he felt he'd committed enough first-book mistakes that
    the potential series would be very hard to fix. And new ideas
    interested him more.


    There does appear to me to be a significant difference in tone between
    this and his next few books. While I found GS readable, I prefer the
    latter.

    I once saw a summary of his sales figures. His fantasy outsold his SF
    by a factor of ten.
