Well I finished this about a day ago. If you are a fan of
Charles Stross's Laundry files or of amusingly eledritch horror
in general you won't want to miss this.
The American President has gone missing and the elder
god, the Black Pharoah who is ruling the UK. with the aid of
former Laundry members, tasks Mhaire who is more competent
than she knows to find our why and rescue the President.
The American equivalent of the Laundry who are called by
the Laundry, "Nazgul" are trying to run Cuthlu.exe aka the
"Lord of Sleep" and wake that before the stars are absolutely
right. K parasites save the day but V parasites save the brain
for lunch. Golly. it makes me glad I am not good at Math.
No one in this is a good guy but many are team players.
It seems to me to be the best story yet of the problems
in Callilng Up that which cannot be banished.

Not perhaps for kiddies due to language.

But if you are over 18 you had better read it or
miss the chance, with censorship getting more
ridiculous every day.

I have been communicating with Stross over on reddit as we have a lot of similar likes and he is a Heinlein / Ilona Andrews fan also. I have one
of his Laundry books and two of his robot books in my SBR (one is a reread).

I have enjoyed Stross's "Laundry" series books for years, and re-read a
number of them. But now that the elder gods and eldritch horrors have
won, the "New Management" series is a little too much horror and
bloody-minded for my taste. I will probably still finish the new series,
but it has been slow going.

I believe that he has a resolution of the Elder Gods and Eldritch Horrors in
mind. Mhari is too optimistic. One solution is to drain all the magical potential
that sustains EG and EH from the Laundry Universe. Exactly how he might do this is more than my knowledge or the LUand imagination can construct but
it has been done in other fictional universes where magic was an impediment. Maybe a vaccine or curative drug for V and K parasites.
Well it was horrid enough with Unicorns being carnivorous Equoids.

But that is what magic involves.
