    Diamond Dogs. Alistair Reynolds.

This is my favourite short story from Reynolds; even better than A Spy
    in Europa.
Further to my posts regarding Stephen King's, The Dark Tower, Diamond
Dogs is another version of Sisyphus also featuring a quest and a Tower
with a character named Childe Roland.

The Song of Roland. Anonymous. 11th century.
    From King Lear. Shakespeare.
Childe Rowland to the dark tower came.
His word was still "Fie, foh, and fum,
I smell the blood of a British man." 17th century.
Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came. Robert Browning. 19th century.
The Dark Tower. (Protagonist Roland). Stephen King. 20th century.

I am a huge fan of Reynolds' SF novels as well. If you haven't read him,
this would be a great start. Highly recommended. Four solid Stars.

I read this for the first time a few days ago and highly recommend it.

In re Browning, I've just seen a youtube performance by a friend, Ian MacGarret. It's a complex poem and worth reading (or seeing).

Of course, Jeremy Irons also does the poem, and he's not bad. You can
    also get it in Hindi.

The poem seems dark, but it's actually much darker.
