From Ubiquitous@3:633/280.2 to All on Sun Jun 15 18:30:41 2025
    I watched:

    DOCTOR WHO:
"Shada". hada: a prison built by the Time Lords for defeated would-be conquerors of the universe. A scientist named Skagra needs the help of one of the prison's inmates. He finds nobody knows where Shada is anymore, except
one aged Time Lord who has retired to Earth, where he is a professor at St Cedd's College. Luckily for the universe, Skagra's attempt to force the information out of Professor Chronotis coincides with a visit by the professor's old friend, the Fourth Doctor. This was a restored version with animated segments that was released in 2017 with a cameo at the end by bTom Baker.

    DOCTOR WHO:
"Leisure Hive". The Fourth Doctor and Romana II arrive on Argolis in search
of a peaceful holiday at the famed Leisure Hive. Instead they become
embroiled in both a takeover scheme by the Argolins' historic enemy the Foamasi and the machinations of Pangol, child of the Generator.

Fringe S5E04 'The Bullet That Saved the World'
IMDb sez: "An act of kindness by Peter draws attention to Etta. The
Observers deal with an infiltrator, and we learn of a resistance leader
known as the Dove and, coincidentally, that Phillip Broyles is working
    with the Observers."

The glyphs for this episode spell out: WOUND

Henrietta Bishop: [about a complex physics formula retrieved from a
secret location] Will you be able to figure it out?
Dr. Walter Bishop: [Frustrated] Don't you understand, this is Greek to
me! Except I read Greek. This is Aramaic to me! Not the western dialect,
    I do speak that.

Dr. Walter Bishop: There was a time when we solved Fringe cases. Now I
think it's time we created a few of our own. (I'm visualizing Liam
Neeson a Zeus from 'Wrath of the Titans yelling "Release the Mad
    Scientist!" :P )

    Fringe S5E05 'An Origin Story'
IMDb sez: "Peter, in the grip of mourning Henrietta's death, resorts to extreme measures in order to gain powers that will allow him to surpass
those that the Observers possess and hopefully, and eventually, find a
    means to defeat them."

The glyphs for this episode spell out: FIGHT
This episode is the first time we see "RESIST" posters with Etta's face
    in the 2036 world.
When Astrid contacts the team reporting delays in retrieving the next
tape due to ignitable containers in its close vicinity, Walter
immediately retorts by intentionally misnaming her Abner, demanding explanations. Turns out it was all due to Walter's misconduct and he
    assumes an apologetic stance.

    PLOT HOLE!
When Walter, Peter and Olivia try to blow up the supply line from future Observers to "now," they aim to turn the wormhole into a black hole to
wreak havoc on the other side of their supply line, expecting it to take
the Observers years to recover. Since Observers in the future DO control
time travel, nothing would prevent them from opening another supply line
after those years of recovery into the very same moment in 2036, making
the entire plan of shutting down the supply line ineffective. (Oops.)

Peter Bishop: We have this opportunity NOW.
Olivia Dunham: Yeah, but what about Walter's plan? We... we have a
mission. This could put that in jeopardy.
Peter Bishop: I'm not doubting Walter's plan, but what do we have?
Pieces we don't know how to put together. A scroll with physics we can't decipher, a thought unifier that doesn't work, and a box of rocks from a
mine. That's what our daughter died for so far.

Anil: That's it. That's the cold stare I know and love. You dead fish.

Captive Observer: You think the black over your head is dark skies when
    it is really our shoe.

Peter Bishop: You're not the only one with a skill for reading people.

Fringe S5E06 'Through the Looking Glass and What Walter Found There'
IMDb sez: "Walter retrieves another video tape from the amber and it
leads the team into a pocket universe."

The glyphs for this episode spell out: SPLIT
Not much to this episode, they wander around in an Eicher designed
building and the Observer tech in Peter starts manifesting.

    Fringe S5E07 'Five-Twenty-Ten'
The team retrieves another cassette tape from the amber. With Nina
Sharp's help, the team recovers 2 cylinders. While Peter works
independently to score a minor victory against the Observers, Olivia ascertains Peter's secret.

The coded glyphs at the commercial breaks spell TRUST.
The team breaks into a Kelvin Genetics lab. 'Kelvin' is a name featured
in many J.J. Abrams productions, because Kelvin was the surname of his maternal grandfather.
As a continuation of the series in-joke, Walter (John Noble) calls
    Astrid (Jasika Nicole) "Agnes."
Dr. Walter Bishop: Fire up the laser, Agnes. Let's get that hand out of
    amber.

True. But there is an easy fankwank for this. Sometimes time travel is depicted where the events in the past and future are all happening simultaneously in real time. So any changes don't happen
instantaneously until the same amount of time has passed in both
locations. So if the future observers took 6 months to repair the
damage and send something back, the people in the past would have 6
months of their original timeline before seeing any retroactive effects.
The people in the past could also hold out hope that some future
resistance will work on the other end to prevent any more time travel.

    What Did You Watch?

This is a multiday catch up. I watched:

Doomsday (4K disc) 2008 movie written and directed by Neil Marshall.
The movie opens in Scotland following the escape of the Rage, I mean
Reaper virus. To protect the population, England orders Scotland to be completed isolated and walled off, leaving everyone inside to die. Then
27 years later (not 28, but 27) the Rage, I mean Reaper virus pops up
again in England. The British prime minister (Alexander Siddig) orders
an elite unit lead by Rhona Mitra to sneak into Scotland and locate a
cure for the virus since they've recently discovered there are still
people alive in Scotland. They assume if people are still alive after
28, I mean 27 years, they must have a cure. Once inside Mitra must
track down a scene chewing Malcolm McDowell and then Escape From New
York, I mean Escape from Scotland, with the cure. I haven't watched
this since it first came out. It was OK I guess, as long as you don't
start to wonder what does living in a post apocalyptic society have to
do with growing a mohawk and dying your hair. And definitely don't ask
how the existence of people still alive in Scottland could be kept
secret given the number of satellites in orbit that England has no
    control over.

The Life of Chuck (theatrical) New movie written and directed by Mike Flanagan, based on a Stephen King novella. This is a very hard movie to summarize, especially while tiptoeing around spoilers. I'll keep it
brief. The movie stars Tom Hiddleston as the title character and
follows his life. Sort of. The movie is broken into three acts. In
the first first act the movie mainly follows Chiwetel Ejiofor who plays
a high school teacher and Karen Gillan who plays his ex wife. Chuck's
image appears everywhere throughout the first act and the underlining
question Chiwetel wants to know is who is this guy. There is actually something else much, much bigger going on, but what that something else
is, is a major spoiler. The second act of the movie follows Tom
Hiddleston on a day he decides to dance. It's much better than my intentionally vague description. And the final act, I won't describe at
all. I went into this movie having no idea what it was about. The way
the movie unfolds it keeps you guessing until the very end. This is a
really good non horror movie from Stephen King, it's probably closer in
tone to "Shawshank Redemption" or "The Green Mile." Just a reminder,
that King can write very good non horror stories.

And some other stuff I don't feel like summarizing.

    What Did You Watch?

Yesterday, I took all afternoon to clean my place (it took hours!!). And
I've burned through most of my soaps from this past week (I have Fri's
GH for today/Sunday). So, consequently, I only got through a couple of Lifetime flicks and golf yesterday:

golf - Day 3 at the U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club. Play was
dominated by Sam Burns and J.J. Spaun, with oldster Adam Scott lurking.
This Open feels unusual as Scott was the only one of the "usual
suspects" near the top of the leaderboard.

Girl Taken (recorded off Lifetime on May 18) - This is one of those
Lifetime flicks that I had to "correct" on IMDb recently - the IMDb cast listing was missing Erica Durance, who as the kidnapped girl's mother,
is basically the "star" of this flick! And Durance is one of those
people IMDb has "red-flagged", so I usually try to send extra proof to
IMDb when I add people like this to a cast listing, as otherwise IMDb
    will reject the addition...
Anyway, Durance plays the mom to a HS senior (Kennedy Rowe). The
daughter gets dumped by her boyfriend (who in a weird dramatic choice is *never* portrayed in this movie!), and they argue about it. The next
morning, the daughter heads out a dawn to confront the boyfriend - they
live in a rural area, so it's a ways to get to him, and she dumbly
hitchhikes. A local sleazeball (Eric Hicks) picks her up, intending to
kidnap the high schooler, to essentially make her an indentured servant
to him and his pregnant girlfriend(?)/wife(?) (Tavia Cervi) whom he is
mildly abusive towards. Sidenote: The pregnant girlfriend(?) is
seemingly portrayed as being "simple", though they never outright say if
    she's "mentally challenged" or not.
And this is where I had my biggest problem with this flick - I could
buy him kidnapping the high schooler if he's a human trafficker. And I
could buy him kidnapping the high schooler if he intended to make her
his (captive!) "wife". But I could not buy the idea that this guy was kidnapping a high schooler, whom he knew! just to basically make her his servant/slave.
Once Durance realizes the daughter's missing, she starts shaking
local trees looking for her, and involves the sheriff. Meanwhile,
there's a subplot involving a detective from a nearby town investigating
a murder. (Hmmm.... Could these two plotlines be connected?!!)
This was OK, if you can overlook the whopper of a premise.

Girl in the Attic (Lifetime) - This was *way* darker than I was
expecting - Keenan Tracey place a complete and utter scumbag here.
He kidnaps a young woman (Sophia Carriere), taking her captive in
his attic (which he soon "sounproofs"), eventually torturing and raping
her. And this is supposed to take place over 15 months!!
When his wheelchair bound mother (Jean Louisa Kelly) discovers this
(much later), he takes her captive too, denying his mother crucial
medication which pretty much renders her immobile/unmoving.
I might have liked this more if it wasn't so dark. Kelly is good in
this - it looks like this is her first acting gig in about a couple of
years, so hopefully she gets more work from it.

I agree. I don't remember the name but the description is one I
definitely recall. Wasn't there some long driving sections with long
shots showing the Scottish landscape where the bad guys were after
Rhona Mitra towards the end? Not a brilliant movie but one that you
    can enjoy for the action.

And some other stuff I don't feel like summarizing.

    Was it DOOL?!! ;p

Only Ian would watch that. LOL.

I watched some other stuff over the past few days that I'll mention
here such as Remi Maleck doing a fine job in the movie, THE AMATEUR.
Where in he plays a CIA cyber geek that deals with crypto and much of
the surveillance tech they've come to rely on. He's leading a
relatively ordinary life until his wife is killed by a bunch of
terrorists and the CIA apparently isn't interested in taking them out
as they are too low level. So he decides to take on the job.
Surprising everyone by not getting killed on day one.

I also saw the first episode of REVIVAL. Where in we had Jag's top
lawyer, I mean the Sheriff of a small town having issues with his
daughter who is quitting the police force there to move to Chicago. Or
at least that was the plan until one night there is a strange
interference on all the radios and then suddenly everyone that died on
a given day is alive again. Not just alive but standing by the graves
in pristine versions of the clothes they were buried in.

Unlike most other shows they aren't after brains, just wanting to get
back to their lives. Needless to say this causes numerous issues. That
would be more than enough to build a show around but there's more than
meets the eye with the returned people.

Lifetime flicks that I had to "correct" on IMDb recently - the IMDb cast
listing was missing Erica Durance, who as the kidnapped girl's mother,
is basically the "star" of this flick! And Durance is one of those
    people IMDb has "red-flagged"

Why are they singling out some actors but [not] others?

I think they tag certain "higher-profile" actors when they feel like
there is a greater likelihood of some internet troll messing with their filmographies. So they put any changes for these actors under higher
scrutiny, and have someone double-check their changes.

I'm guessing, but it's an educated guess.

    Speaking of tilting at windmills

    12 O'Clock High

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057793/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk

    That’s not how it’s spelled

    https://youtu.be/0B_2y1aUExs?si=DGlET-4Gi61yMsuk

    It’s
    12 o’clock HIGH
    or
    12 O’CLOCK HIGH
In black-and-white or color (the worst season), opening credits or ending credits. It’s never spelled with just the O and the C capitalized.

I not suppose there’s any possible chance we can get that corrected?

Speaking of season three being the worst season

    SeaQuest 2032

They’ve got a note that the original title was seaQuest DSV (the “DSV“ stands for: seaQuest!) But they’re using a capital S, which it doesn’t have. Even spellcheck right here knows how to do it correctly.

This is a multiday catch up. I watched:

Doomsday (4K disc) 2008 movie written and directed by Neil Marshall.
The movie opens in Scotland following the escape of the Rage, I mean
Reaper virus. To protect the population, England orders Scotland to be >completed isolated and walled off, leaving everyone inside to die. Then
27 years later (not 28, but 27) the Rage, I mean Reaper virus pops up
again in England.

I always wondered why people in this genre don't adapt to wearing shin and elbow guards, pants/jeans, and short hair.

I have always seen it spelled with apostrophies.

Speaking of season three being the worst season:

    SeaQuest 2032

They all sucked, but it was better than Earth Two.

Oh, lots of seaQuest is way worse than earth two was.
