• What Did You Watch? 2025-06-18 (Wednesday)

From Ubiquitous@3:633/280.2 to All on Thu Jun 19 18:30:41 2025
    I watched:

PCB | Trailer Reviews - Superman, Fantastic 4, Star Trek | Dr Who Dead at Disney | Looney Tunes!
Pop Culture Breakdown is back, and tonight our panel of pop culture pundits discuss KK's recent Star Wars escapades, (including a screening of original Star Wars I find highly suspicious), we will discuss the latest Ironheart outrage (what is Marvel's Major Malfunction?), along with James Gunn's takedown of Hollywood and Marvel! But wait, there's MORE! We'll debate if Spaceballs 2 is a good idea or a looming disaster, we'll talk about a pizza
ad that made me excited about Fantastic Four, we'll get mightily pissed off about Captain Kirk meeting STD, and our Movie of the Week segment pays tribute to the classic 1940s Superman Cartoons! Join us as we break down the highs and lows of the week in pop culture!

Just soaps - I've missed a day or two of GH, so watched Wed's ep, and
then watched the CBS soaps - Y&R, B&B and BtB. Not really worth
commenting on, except on GH Lizzie let Kristina know that she knows,
and that seemed to put Kristina in her place!

I watched CLEANER on the Max.

Basically a warmed-over retread of DIE HARD. Eco-terrorist take over the board meeting after-party at a big energy company and force them to confess their 'crimes' before strapping explosive vests on them all and setting a countdown timer to red goo.

Daisy Ridley stars as a plucky window cleaner who unluckily happens to be late finishing her daily window quota and is caught outside when the building takeover occurs. From there, she transforms into John McClane and we're off to the races.

It was okay as an action movie but it doesn't come anywhere close to matching DIE HARD for sheer entertainment value. Put it this way: in 40 years, no one's going to be making pop culture references to CLEANER or quoting its lines.

Was it at all believable with Ridley in the role? That was the big
thing I thought when I first saw the description of the movie. I
thought it might have worked with someone like Statham in the role but
    not Daisy Ridley.

They gave her a special forces Army background and a prologue that showed her as a kid climbing like a monkey all over her high-rise apartment to lay the groundwork for her death-defying feats on the outside of the skyscraper later in the movie.
