To be fair, it died before. Maybe it needs to go away for a few years so that someone who actually loves it can revive it again.

And Batman.
And Superman.
And Knight Rider.
And Battlestar Galatica.
And ...
Now there's a new Stargate show been announced, so there
goes another franchise down the toilet. :-(

Is it the franchises changing for the worse... or just us getting older
and not liking change?! ;-)

It's going to be run by a mix of people from both the original movie
and the tv show; Devlin&Emmerich have previously made known their
dislike of the changes made for TV, so we could be in for bit of
infighting (which never works out well).

For me it's definitely all the idiotic changes that simply make the
"new version" a very different show, so why did they bother re-using
the same title? They may as well just have made a completely new show
to begin with (e.g. "Warship Gigantica") and say it is very loosely
based on the original.
Almost always these silly remakes / reboots / reimaginings are done by
some new egotistical fool who thinks they know better then the person
with the talent to come up with the original, as to how it "should have
been done".
Hmmm!! (As this IS a 'Doctor who' newsgroup I'm reading this in ....)
I'm thinking you were thinking about Chris Chibnall there, Your Name!!
There's usually some nonsense excuse that re-using the same name means
they have a "built-in audience", but that's utter rubbish - the changes
mean the original fans won't like it, and people who didn't like the
original are unlikely to watch something with the same name.
Even resurrected shows (including prequels, sequels, and spin-offs)
with mostly the same cast and crew rarely work because everyone has
changed and time has moved on, so it's never really the same "magic" as
it was the first time around.

They destroyed in 5 years what had endured for 60. Three generations
shared this passion, and were told we were never the audience to begin
with.
To be fair, it died before. Maybe it needs to go away for a few years

When doctor who was cancelled in the 80s there was still interest in it.
That is not true now. There is no interest in it now.
