The U.S. Department of Agriculture administers the SNAP program and proudly boasts that it has more than 47 million regular subscribers that depend on it for food.

On the other hand, the U.S. Department of Interior administers the national parks, every one of which admonishes visitors not to feed the animals because they will become dependent on the handouts and never learn to feed
    themselves.

Sorry, but SNAP is the most abused and defrauded welfare program in the nation's history. Do something about all the fraud and make the people who *can* work for their benefits (but won't because they'd rather sit around and let everyone else pay to feed them) get a job, and then I'll start to care.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture administers the SNAP program and
    proudly
boasts that it has more than 47 million regular subscribers that depend
    on it for food.

On the other hand, the U.S. Department of Interior administers the
    national
parks, every one of which admonishes visitors not to feed the animals
    because
they will become dependent on the handouts and never learn to feed
    themselves.

So children and the elderly, the majority of the people benefiting
from SNAP, are supposed to go out and get a job. Glad to see you truly
    care.

Sorry, but SNAP is the most abused and defrauded welfare program in the
nation's history. Do something about all the fraud and make the >>>>>>> people who
*can* work for their benefits (but won't because they'd rather sit

The presence of fraud in a benefits program (there'll always be some)
seems a reason to address the fraud, not an excuse to axe the program.

I could just do without the gleeful dancing and entitled laughing over shopping carts loaded with thousands of dollars of food paid for by other people. Maybe a humble thank you? Is that too much to ask?

Those people (welfare queens, etc.) exist, no doubt ...and they make
great clickbait. But neither do I doubt that somebody could compile a compelling compendium of, say, kids and elderly kept alive by EBT.

But that wouldn't make for a good story, nor a compelling video.

Ignore the fraud and the horrifically bad food choices. Here's what Pew Research Center says about SNAP.

May 2025 figures: 41.7 million people in 22.4 million households
    received SNAP benefits.

Among adult recipients, 54.1% had a high school diploma or less
education. And despite the programs work requirements, 61% said
they had not been employed at all that year.

Regardless of the extent to which work requirements are enforced, 39% of receipients are employed in jobs too shitty that they cannot support
    themselves or their families.

That's what I find to be disturbing, that those willing to work cannot
    support themselves.

There are too many welfare recipients, but Trump isn't addressing the underlying issues.

The SNAP program should be reduced to providing MREs for the recipients. If they're good enough for our troops, they're good enough for these 400-lb waddling lumps of entitlement. MREs provide all the basic nutrition a person needs. That should be the choice: a box of MREs or get a job.
