After my Monday workout, I watched:
Nothing. I was prepping for a Thanksgiving road trip.
What did you watch?
I watched "How Human Were They? | The Empathic Hunter-
Architect - Homo NEANDERTHALENSIS," from Sleepless Homo.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGtRTJLSf4U
They tried a different approach, less factual and more
storytelling, and I'm not sure if I like it. It went
pretty hard on the idea that we benighted sapiens were
just *prejudiced* against the poor Neanderthals until
recently, but think how much less information was
available in the 19th and 20th centuries.
I think they may have used AI to generate the script,
too. I'm not sure enough to call them on it, and in
theory I don't mind that as long as a human's guiding it,
but an AI-scripted longform channel isn't far away from
relaxing into AI slop.
It's the future, so maybe I should relax about it. AI
will drive out the human creators, so there won't be
anything worth watching in public, and instead we'll all
be entertained by our personalized AI-generated content.
On the rare occasions when two humans meet, they'll have
no shared culture and have nothing to say to each other.
