Yesterday, I did not get grading done - call it another "holiday day"
for me.ÿ :)
I also didn't watch much:
soaps: DOOL - I am still behind on episodes of this, but I am getting
closer to clearing the backlog. On Friday, I got through the Nov. 20 &
21 episodes of DOOL. NuRachel (I still prefer the naked sociopathy of
the previous Rachel child actress) tries to murder Sarah with malice of forethought, but has second thoughts about it, but... too late! Sarah is taken to the hospital. Then Rachel remembers (finally!) that she also
tried to murder EJ - and tells daddy (Booster Brady) about it.
Meanwhile, Ari and Aaron visit Sophia Choi, who is still catatonic - I'm going to guess that Sophia will snap out of it when she finds out that Johnny & Chanel adopted her baby, and will go into a murderous rage
about it!
Secret Life of a Good Wife (LMN) - This new LMN flick was basically mistitled, as the "good wife" (Katy Wilson, whom I don't know) didn't
have a secret life - all she was doing was sneaking out to confer with
her little sister (Kennedy Martin, who has done at least one previous
LMN flick) after their mother (Deena Dill) goes missing. Anyway, it
doesn't take a genius to figure out that farmer/rancher family she's
married into is EVOL!1! and almost certainly has something to do with
the mom's disappearance. The only thing somewhat interesting here is
that they portrayed Wilson's character as having quasi-panic attacks,
though they never went anywhere with that, really.
What did you watch?
On Friday and a few days before Friday, I watched:
Zootopia (3D blu-ray) 2016 Disney animated movie.
Mild spoilers...
The plot follows a young rabbit named "Judy" (Ginnifer Goodwin) who has
dreams of joining the police force. But in this anthropomorphic world
smaller animals like rabbits are not in law enforcement. But Judy
perseveres and winds up on the force where she then inserts herself into
a missing animals investigation. She coerces a fox named "Nick" (Jason Bateman) to help her. One thing leads to another and they save the day.
Overall, the movie held up very well.
Zootopia 2 (theatrical) 2025 sequel which picks up where the first movie ended. "Nick" (Jason Bateman) joined the police force at the end of the
last movie. "Judy" (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick are now partners. I'm
not going to discuss the plot specifically. I'll say the trailer makes
the movie look like a silly, goofy, movie, very similar to the first
movie. But IMO the trailer is a bit misleading. My take it on it is
it's actually a much darker, more adult film. Yeah, it has goofy
moments, but there are some more modern politically aspects in the movie
and the main antagonist is basically a murdering sociopath. And that's
not hinted at in the trailers. At all. I also noticed there were a lot
of jokes and references, that I got, and I liked, but they were clearly
aimed at an older audience. For example, there was one scene that was a straight up shot for shot homage to "The Shining." It was the sort of
thing that was blatantly obvious, but for a good chunk of this movie's audience a scene like that would go right over their heads. Anyway,
overall I think I might have liked this one more expressly because they
did something different and went in a more adult direction. And I don't
want to be too specific, but I particularly liked what they did with the villain. This one was about as close to a serial killer as you can get
in an animated Disney film, and off the top of my head I can't think of
any other Disney villains like that. And I bet there was probably an
even darker version of this movie that the suits made them tone down.
Actually it just popped into my head, the villain in this movie is sort
of similar to Judge Doom from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit." That's the
only other character I can think of who would similarly be cool with
straight up murdering someone, but that was partially live action, and
not released under the Disney name.
