• Is anyone else having trouble getting to rec.arts.tv in Thunderbird?

From rhino@3:633/10 to All on Mon Dec 1 23:22:54 2025

I hadn't seen any new posts in Thunderbird for a few days despite the Thanksgiving holiday and that that was odd. Then I noticed a line of small print indicating a problem with getting posts from rec.arts.tv. I hopped on Newsgrouper and it turned out there had been plenty of activity: Thunderbird simply couldn't be bothered to show it to me.

And no, I haven't changed any settings.

Have any of you other Tbird users been affected by this issue?

Rhino, the problem is not Thunderbird (which I've been using the whole
time) - the problem is clearly either your Thunderbird, or the system
you are using your Thunderbird on.

Short of using it on a different computer, I don't expect these problems
you are having with Thunderbird are going to go away on their own.

If you were on eternal-september, then you were affected by the indexing
    issue a week ago.

I had no problems with Tbird over the weekend. I did hear there was an
issue with Cloudfare which might interfere with the internet/usenet.
Yesterday I had a webpage that wouldn't load first time I tried it due
to Cloudfare. A few minutes later it loaded as usual.

I'm not seeing a lot of evidence to support your theory.

I know I've asked the question a few times now but each time, I hadn't
seen a new post for a few days, even though there were posts. Each time,
the posts then resumed after a couple more days, just as it has in this
case. (I'm reading and posting on Tbird right now although I posted the thread-starter in Newsgrouper.)

As for my system, previous instances of this problem occurred when I was
using my Dell laptop. I retired that in late September after close to 10
years of service and now do everything on my brand new HP. If the laptop
were the problem, why did I have the problem on the new laptop too?

The problem seems to have resolved itself without having to do anything
at all except waiting another day.
