• death of Robert Duvall

    From Adam H. Kerman@3:633/10 to All on Mon Feb 16 20:05:10 2026
Plenty of obituaries ae available on line.

I wanted to note that in an old career interview, Robert Duvall named
his best role as Gus McCrae, in Lonesome Dove (1989), the epic miniseries
for CBS adapted from the 1985 Larry McMurty novel. Duvall had called the character one of the greatest in literature and that it was a privilege
to play him. Duvall was initially offered Woodrow Call but said he'd
played that type of character too many times, asking to play Gus.

It was the season's highest-rated miniseries and higher rater than any made-for-tv movie that season. Who says viewers aren't hungry for
    quality television?

He was always my favorite of "The Godfather 3": Duvall, Pacino, and De Niro (who has gone insane in his old age)

Funny, that's exactly what he's said about Donald Trump.

I would like to spend a moment in this thread to remember all the
entertainment and many fine performances of Robert Duvall. I am not
interested in De Niro's opinion of Trump nor your opinion of anything
    but Duvall.

If you want to ruin a thread, start your own. Stay out of on topic
    threads that I start.

Initiating a thread doesn't confer ownership.

He was on the Graham Norton show, a rerun that was probably between 10 and
15 years old, talking about how the big sleep would be on him soon enough.
