More "modernised" over-violent, swearing, silliness ruining the DC

What happens in the Lanterns trailer?
The Lanterns trailer sees Green Lanterns Hal Jordan (Chandler)
and John Stewart (Pierre) officially introduced into James Gunn
and Peter Safran's DCU. Hal is seen training John how to be a
Green Lantern; however, the two of them appear to be having some
disagreements on Hal's methods. In addition to teasing a larger
mystery afoot, the end of the trailer also references a Green
Lantern who is a squirrel, though whether or not they'll actually
show up in the series remains to be seen.
The cast of Lanterns further includes Kelly Macdonald as Kerry,
Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Garret Dillahunt as William Macon,
Ulrich Thomsen as Sinestro, Jason Ritter as Billy Macon, and more.
"The series follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend
Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, Earth-based
mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland,"
the official logline reads.
Mundy previously said about the show, via Warner Bros. Discovery,
"From the start, our driving force has been to deliver a layered
drama - rooted in nuanced storytelling and rich world building -
that balances tension and mystery with honest, authentic emotion.
The goal is to create something that feels timeless and grounded
without sacrificing the magic of the source material."
The Lanterns pilot episode is co-written by Mundy, Lindelof, and
King, with Mundy serving as the series' showrunner. The first two
episodes are directed by James Hawes, while Stephen Williams,
Geeta Vasant Patel, and Alik Sakharov also direct episodes. Mundy,
Lindelof, James Gunn, Peter Safran, King, Ron Schmidt, and Hawes
serve as executive producers.
Lanterns will premiere on HBO Max in 2026. Other DCU projects
releasing in 2026 include Supergirl (June 26, 2026) and Clayface
(September 11, 2026).
