    What did you watch?

I watched Ready Or Not, a movie from a few years back which is currently
available on Hulu. Someone else in this group mentioned watching this --
was it Arthur? Sorry, but I've forgotten -- so when it was offered to
    me, I said sure.

The scion of a wealthy family brings his bride home, and she's told that
the family has a tradition in which she must play a game at midnight.
The game turns out to be hide and seek, and only after it has begun does
she realize they're all trying to kill her.

It's more of a dark comedy than a real horror movie. Several of the
goriest events happen off-camera, with us seeing only other characters'
    expressions.

I enjoyed it. Ads tell me there's a sequel now in theaters, but I didn't
enjoy it enough to go out.

I did watch this a few days ago, but I don't think I mentioned it (only
that I was going to watch it).ÿ I watched it in anticipation of Ready or
Not 2 which I also watched the other day.ÿ I think I liked Ready or Not
2 more.ÿ It picks up right where the first movie ends but turns things
up a few notches.ÿ I don't want to get into specifics because it leans heavily into certain events that happen at the end of the first movie.
You *know* which events I am referring.ÿ So if you liked *that* aspect
of the movie and want more then the sequel is definitely the way to go.

In addition to Ready or Not 2, I also recently watched "They Will Kill
You" which is also in theaters now.ÿ Those two movies pair very well together.ÿ They Will Kill You stars Zazie Beetz as an ex-con who gets
out of prison and goes to work as a maid at a hotel that turns out to be
a front for a devil cult that wants to sacrifice her to the devil. Unfortunately for the cult, years of prison life has trained Beetz to
handle anything, even a psychotic devil cult.

I'm trying to avoid any spoilers.ÿ I'll just emphasize that "Ready Or
Not 2" and "They Will Kill You" pair very well together.

Interesting. "They Will Kill You" has gotten mixed reviews on Reddit
horror. I'm guessing it's much more "horror comedy" (or "thriller
comedy"?) than horror which is why it's turning some of them off. I
suspect I will probably like it.

Today, I am hoping to get to a few more flicks during my Spring Break, paying particular attention to trying to get to "Clown in a Cornfield"
(on the Hulu!) which I have heard good things about.

I watched this last night. (I've also read the book it was based on.)

It was a pretty faithful adaptation and a refreshing call-back to the old hard-R horror movies of my yout, with lots of gore where you actually get to see what happens as opposed to the current style of PG-13 horror, where we see the killer's knife (or ax or chainsaw or whatever) come arcing down toward the victim, then the camera cuts away and we see some blood splash on the wall or something.

My only complaint is that a true hard-R slasher movie has two crucial elements and this movie only has one of them: (1) buckets of blood and gore and (2) gratuitous nekkid nudity. It delivers on the former but is sadly completely bereft of the latter.
