• Utter Madness in Germany

From BTR1701@3:633/10 to All on Sat Apr 11 03:38:16 2026
A bill making its way through the German Bundestag would bar people from
buying homes or renting apartments based on their political views. If
passed, it would allow the state to target dissidents and political undesirables even when they have broken no law.

    https://rmx.news/article/german-government-proposes-blocking-home-and-real-estate-sales-based-on-political-views-in-new-threat-to-free-speech/

The bill would empower local authorities to block home purchases and
    renters who "hold anti-constitutional views".

To make this possible, the government also plans to amend the Federal
Office for the Protection of the Constitution Act, allowing the German
domestic intelligence agency to share personal data and internet history
with municipalities for the purpose of reviewing the beliefs of prospective buyers. The Office of the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) is Germany's powerful domestic spy agency, which has been tasked with surveilling Alternative for Germany (AfD) members in certain federal states and has
been implicated in a number of scandals, including the creation of hundreds
    of fake "right-wing extremist" accounts.

So if you think Europe being subsumed by mass 3rd-world immigration is a
bad thing, say goodbye to your dream home.

This is all in the name of preventing "right-wing extremism", which is a
bit of a problem, considering the German political establishment defines right-wing extremism as supporting the aforementioned AfD Party, literally Germany's second-largest political party with 15 million members, all of
whom could face the prospect of not being allowed to buy a house because
they indicated support for the only major party in Germany that opposes
    mass migration.

Let's bathe in the absurdity of this for a moment. The same political party that has repeatedly and unconstitutionally tried to ban the country's
second biggest political party thinks it has the moral and legal high
ground to define what constitutes anti-constitutional views.

Oh, but it's necessary to "protect democracy".

They define anti-constitutional efforts as being "characterized by an
active, not necessarily combative-aggressive or illegal approach to the realization of their goals. They must be objectively capable of producing political effects sooner or later".

So basically any form of political activism or organization whatsoever.

The East German Stasi was supposedly dissolved in 1990. I'm really
struggling to see much difference between then and now.

The East German Stasi was supposedly dissolved in 1990. I'm really
struggling to see much difference between then and now.

It's very interesting to me that the BfV (Office of the Protection of
the Constitution) was originally set up shortly after WWII to *prevent*
the emergence of a neo-Nazi party and safeguard the new democratic
Germany, yet now it proceeds to combat the allegedly far-right AfD by
making its members homeless. I think pretty much all of society sees homelessness as a horrible indictment on society so the idea that a
society would FORCE people to be homeless seems absurd. Yet what are the alternatives if you're not allowed to rent or buy housing?

Of course, the AfD *is* seen by the German elites as a neo-Nazi/fascist movement. There might even be some truth in that. A man I respect
greatly, Douglas Murray, has hinted as much. The AfD does seem to be
more supportive of Putin that one might expect reasonable people to be.
But one of their two co-leaders is an open lesbian which doesn't exactly scream traditional Nazi. The AfD initially emerged in the former East
Germany and had nearly all of its support there, although that has since broadened considerably. I can't help but suspect that much of their
support comes from people who are frustrated that their government has
done so little to limit the inflow and lawlessness of the many migrants
and immigrants who have flooded into Germany since Angela Merkel opened
    the floodgates.

Just as in most Western countries, large groups of people who are very culturally unlike the existing Germans have been allowed to enter but
have been encouraged to retain their cultures rather than assimilate,
which has led to a great deal of "cultural friction". And just like many Western countries, the German elites have tried to enact laws to make
people keep their opinions to themselves.

The AfD isn't anywhere near as fascist and authoritarian as the current

Yep. It's basically what I posted a few weeks ago about birthright
    citizenship:

The Left's argument for birthright citizenship is obviously insane but it's even more insane when you consider that they actually don't believe in your or my "birthright". They constantly claim we are on stolen land and have no right to be here, but the anchor baby whose parents got here from Guatemala 10 seconds ago has a "birthright" and is tied to this nation by blood for all time. That's actually their position. It's so psychotic that you can't even argue against it. It's like trying to have a political debate with a rutabaga. These are not serious people.
