ÿÿ 'Beyond the Gates' Renewed for Two More Seasons at CBS
ÿÿ ------------------------------------------------------
ÿÿ The CBS soap opera "Beyond the Gates" has been renewed for two more
ÿÿ seasons and will air through the 2027-2028 broadcast season.
ÿÿ The network revealed the news at its CBS fall schedule announcement
ÿÿ press conference on Wednesday in Los Angeles.
ÿÿ Created by Michele Val Jean, "Beyond the Gates" began in 2025 and
ÿÿ is the first new daytime soap to debut on a major TV network since
ÿÿ "Passions" in 1999. It's also the first daytime soap to feature a
ÿÿ predominantly African American cast since "Generations," which ran
ÿÿ on NBC from 1989 to 1991.
ÿÿ The show is produced in conjunction with the NAACP under its content
ÿÿ partnership with CBS, as well as P&G Prods. Paramount TV chair
ÿÿ George Cheeks said CBS has extended the first look deal with the
ÿÿ NAACP, with Sheila Ducksworth continuing to run that venture.
ÿÿ "They're still developing projects with us," he said. "But nothing
ÿÿ to announce besides that they just got a two-season order for
ÿÿ 'Beyond the Gates.'"
ÿÿ "Beyond the Gates" follows the Dupree family behind the gates of
ÿÿ their fictional gated community, nestled within their leafy Maryland
ÿÿ suburb just outside of Washington, D.C.
ÿÿ Tamara Tunie and Clifton Davis play the matriarch and patriarch,
ÿÿ Anita Dupree and Vernon Dupree, and their children Nicole and
ÿÿ Danielle are played by Daphnee Duplaix and Karla Mosley,
ÿÿ respectively. The cast also includes Alex Alegria, Lauren Buglioli,
ÿÿ Brandon Claybon, Timon Kyle Durrett, Sean Freeman, Ben Gavin,
ÿÿ Marquita Goings, Jibre Hordges, Jen Jacob, Maurice Johnson, Trisha
ÿÿ Mann-Grant, Mike Manning, RhonniRose Mantilla, Ambyr Michelle, Colby
ÿÿ Muhammad and Arielle Prepetit.
ÿÿ Reviewing the soap in 2025, Variety chief TV critic Aramide Tinubu
ÿÿ wrote, "Soap operas aren't considered prestige programming, but this
ÿÿ new show offers viewers something more unique than over-the-top
ÿÿ storylines and tawdry romances. During a time when minority-led
ÿÿ series are vanishing from the small screen and the current government
ÿÿ is rampantly attacking diversity, equity and inclusion, 'Beyond the
ÿÿ Gates' is a reminder that Black people and people of color can't be
ÿÿ erased."
ÿÿ During the event on Wednesday, CBS announced its full 2026-2027 fall
ÿÿ primetime schedule, which includes a new, New York-based "NCIS"
ÿÿ spinoff starring LL Cool J and Scott Caan, as well as previously
ÿÿ announced new series "Cupertino," "Einstein" and "Eternally Yours."
