There was not even a pretense at diversity here. ’thelstan hadn't been
the least bit concerned about ensuring that half of the people he'd
hired to carry out his coup should be women or non-white or disabled.
This was an unapologetically old-school gathering. In ’thelstan's world
he was king and he could do whatever he wanted.
The first time I read that, I thought surely this must be some kind of fake, a
Babylon Bee-style satire. But no, this is an officially licensed book in the continuing James Bond series.
I mean, it's one thing to debate whether Bond can be portrayed on screen as black or as a woman, but dear lord in heaven above, the idea that James Bond, the UK's most steely-eyed MI6 assassin, is going to fret about the fact that the super-villain threatening to overthrow the UK government has hired a non-diverse set of henchmen is so stupendously ridiculous I can't believe even
the wokesters thought this was a good idea. And then of course there's the first paragraph, describing someone who, for example, opposes cultural Marxism
in a pejorative sense. As if anyone who isn't a Marxist is a bad person.
