"Woodland Critter Christmas" is one of my faves. They keep piling up
more and more outrageous offenses against decency, in the guise of a
story written by Cartman, and yet the plot all coheres and (dare I say)
even dovetails.
I *think* I saw this, but I don't remember it.
What did everyone else watch?
On Friday I watched:
Ernest Goes to Camp (blu-ray) 1987 movie written and directed by John R. Cherry III, and starring Jim Varney as Ernest. After coming to fame in
a series of TV commercials, "You know what I mean?," the character was
put in this kid's comedy which has Ernest becoming a camp counselor and
put in charge of a group of juvenile delinquents. But he also has to
save the camp from an evil mining company. I used to watch this all the
time when I was a kid. It's not as funny as it was when I was 10 years
old, but it has a little bit of nostalgia factor I can still squeeze out
of it.
Ernest Goes to Jail (blu-ray) 1990 movie directed by John R. Cherry III
and starring Jim Varney as Ernest. This was on the same disc as "Camp"
which is the only reason I watched it. I'm not sure if I've ever
bothered to watch this before on disc. I'm not even sure if I've seen
this movie before, although I definitely did recognize a scene or two.
Anyway, the plot has Ernest getting assigned to jury duty where he coincidentally looks like one of the inmates at the local prison (yes
prison not jail!). The inmates come up with a scheme to swap Ernest for
the lookalike inmate and wackiness ensues. I was half asleep while
watching, but the parts I did pay attention to weren't particularly
funny. I did notice that Ernest's portrayal in this movie seemed to be
a *lot* like Pee-wee Herman. I'm not sure if that was coincidental or not.
