My daughter emigrated to the UK in 2014 and still has her west coast
Canadian accent BUT has adopted a lot of British nomenclature for all
sorts of things. (Which is quite something since her partner is as
English as it comes - his father is a retired senior British Army NCO
who once told me he had been stationed "in practically every horrible
place the British Army has been these last 25 years" which I assume
means Iraq, Afghanistan, Rwanda just for starters. On the other hand
my cousin from NW Washington state emigrated to France 30-35 years ago
and says her sons sound like Americans when speaking English and
Frenchmen when speaking French. My own French isn't good enough to
judge)
