I just saw a commercial for FOX's reboot of Baywatch. Most of it was hot people in swimsuits.

I'm not sure how well this will do. When the first one was popular, the Internet was less common and society in general was less pornified.
These days, anyone can see mostly-naked hot people whenever they want.
Why watch a bad TV show?

Of course, they could shock us all by making it good enough to be worth watching... but I'm not holding my breath.

They don't need to do much to make it watchable - all they need is hot
people in swimwear occasionally saving people. Bonus if they add in the
rare story where some LA lifeguards manage to bust some Cartel types or something. IOW, just follow the formula of the original series to a "T". (Though try and avoid the mistakes of the "Baywatch massacre" and
"Baywatch Hawaii" seasons!)

What they need to make sure NOT to do is whatever "Rescue Hi-Surf" tried
to do. Nobody wanted what that show was peddling!

That show *was* Baywatch. Their problem was that they didn't cast enough hot girls. They kept trying to push Arielle Kebbel as some kind of goddess descended from Mount Olympus, but she's in her 40s and looks like someone's mom. They needed some Pamela Andersons and Carmen Electras and Yasmine
Bleeths. Instead, we got a bunch of dudes and Arielle Kebbel.

Hopefully they recognize what made the original a world-wide hit: super-hot women in bikinis having heterosexual sex with good-looking dudes in a sun-drenched Southern California beach setting.

But this is 2026 Hollywood, so we're probably going to get lots of gay stuff and some kind of weird transformer dude demanding to be allowed to run around in a bikini or something. I've been watching some of the old eps on Heroes & Icons this summer and there was an episode a couple weeks ago where it was quite obvious that it was from the pre-woke era of TV.

The Beach Boys were guest stars and they were making videos of their various songs on the beach as part of the plot. For 'California Girls', the band was surrounded by a herd of gorgeous girls in bikinis-- around 20 of them total. All of them but one were blonde goddesses. If the show was made today, twelve of them would be black, four latina, three of them Asian, and one (maybe)
would be white, but she'd be a lesbian or a transformer.

It's amazing how none of the characters on the show are gay, there are no scenes of dudes kissing each other, no non-binary gender-queer purple-haired goth creatures with metal studs embedded in their heads. Just gorgeous girls and the guys who want to bang them.

The whole show is a hate crime by today's standards. Not only am I amazed that it's legal to continue to air it, I'm surprised they haven't been required to burn the negatives and salt the earth by now.
