Something tells me that if the school district packed the kids off and sent them to a Catholic church or a Jewish synagogue for a day of instruction on the faith, the same leftists that have no problem with this Islamic indoctrination would shit kittens and file lawsuits faster than you could blink.
And considering that California consistently ranks 49 or 50 in academic performance of kids grades 6-12 (even Alabama beats us), why is any of this taking up even one second of school time?

Parents of Bay Area high school students taken on a field trip to a mosque are
suing over the visit-- alleging students were encouraged to wear hijabs and given Qurans.
A Toronto school had issues a year or two back when a bunch of their
students were sent on a field trip in town. They were supposed to
OBSERVE a demonstration about water issues at a native reserve; instead,
they ended up PARTICIPATING in a pro-Palestinian (= pro-Hamas) rally
that turned out to be not entirely peaceful. Some parents were very
unhappy and made a stink but I don't know if they went as far as a
lawsuit, although I think they should have.
As for religious indoctrination, I remember some visitor coming to our classroom around Grade 5 and giving us each our own New Testament. I
don't remember any kerfuffle about that but that was back when
non-Christians would be exceedingly few and far between. I'd be shocked
if they still allowed that for fear of offending the Religion of Pieces.
