Like "Falling Skies" (and "Earth: Final Conflict"), "The Last Ship" was
also a show that got "much less good" fast. The first season was pretty terrific. The second season was just OK, IIRC. But once they dumped
Rhona Mitra, it went downhill super-fast, and as I recall the last
couple of seasons didn't even make much sense (despite having some good
eye candy along the way).

Mitra tweeted at the time that her parting from the show was not her idea, nor
was it amicable.
Little known factoid: Rhona was the original model for Lara Croft, then when it came time for the movie, she was passed over for that crone Angelina Jolie.
