London's annual Notting Hill Carnaval (or as the locals call it, Notting Hell), where tens of thousands of diverse individuals descend on the neighborhood and wreak carnage, while the politicians and legacy media do their best to pretend it isn't happening, went pretty much as expected this year.
From Sky News: "There were multiple stabbings, with one man taken to hospital
with life-threatening injuries, but overall, it was a peaceful and enjoyable day."
Yes, yes, a bunch of people might have been stabbed but it was mostly peaceful. Imagine if a conservative political rally or an immigration protest had resulted in 169 arrests. What do you suppose the odds are that the government and media would be telling the public it was "mostly peaceful" or "overwhelmingly positive"?
The verbal somersaults they have to perform to shield the sacred shibboleth of
diversity is beyond parody at this point.
But what about the Glastonbury Festival? Glastonbury... majority white. Notting Hill... majority black. Why no denigrating complaints from the usual suspects on the right about Glastonbury, the leftist talking heads in the media demanded to know. Racist double standard, they say. But nope.
In the entire 56-year history of Glastonbury, no one's ever been stabbed. Notting Hill beats that several times over in one single afternoon on one single day every single year. That's why people don't complain mass violence and criminality at Glastonbury... because there isn't any.
One particularly strident woman on the LBC show complained that it used to be that the denigration of Carnaval by the 'far right' was expected in the weeks following it, but now they're not even waiting for the results; "they're starting the slander a week before it even begins". Hey, love, they're starting early because that's when the actual residents of Notting Hill have to start boarding up their homes and businesses and hiring security to keep from being looted or burned down.
She also complained how the 'far right' delight in showing images of gang violence and people wielding knives and machetes in the crowd at Carnaval and blamed racism for all the problems with Carnaval. Well, you silly bint, they couldn't show those images if there weren't gangs and knife-wielders to take pictures of in the first place, could they? How dare they show images reflecting the reality of what's actually happening, amirite?
No, it's not the machete attacks, the countless sexual assaults, the vandalism, the looting, the violence toward the cops, the 528 arrests just in the last two Carnavals... no, it must be the racism.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan wrote what he calls, "an important piece about the beauty of Carnival, and why we must never allow the hateful myths of the far right shape our thoughts about it".

Hateful myths of the far right consisting of... actual crime statistics released by the Metropolitan Police.
Shorter Sadiq: "It doesn't matter what's actually happening. Just tell them it's overwhelmingly positive."
Don't show any of the carnage, just broadcast cringe videos of white police officers twerking at the festival while crowds of black people laugh at them and pretend this diversity thing is all happy unicorns shitting rainbow-colored gumdrops.

I saw a video about that same Carnival but the 169 arrests was an
interim number; that actual number was 236 - and that was for only the
first of the two days that the Carnival runs. (The first day is called Families Day and is widely known to be far calmer than the second day so
we may yet see many, many more arrests and incidents once they have the numbers for the second day.)
I also saw footage of the event and it was quite a big production. There were 7000 police there - and 3000 stewards (they didn't explain how the stewards worked but the implication was that they somehow enforced
rules) - and a whole slew of metal detectors that people had to walk
through to try to screen out knives (and the odd gun). However, when the journalist who was there walked through the metal detectors, they beeped
and NONE of the many police officers just inside did anything so I'm not quite seeing the point of them.
The policing effort for the event cost 20 million pounds, FAR more than
any other policing effort for public events like the FA cup, Glastonbury
or anything comparable. (I think the most expensive event after Nodding
Hill was 1.5 million pounds.) The Nodding Hill Carnival has been going
on 60 years now and they have talked for years about moving it off the streets, probably to Hyde Park, but no one has done it yet.
