Comcast, the world's most wonderful company with a stellar reputation
for subscriber service, has recognized my gender change. Why do you
refuse to?
Since my mother died, I've been putting her accounts in my name. I
ported her phone numbers. I put her Comcast account in my name to
maintain the ID and email address. Email addresses and phone numbers
have to be retained to avoid identity fraud.
More than 10 years after my mother died and I put her Wells Fargo account
in my name, they changed them back without notifying me and they claimed
they never did any such thing. Of course I can?t access them now but it
never happened so that?s OK.
The ID and email address are part of her account profile, which is also
the Web interface. Changing the account owner name is separate from
changing the name in the profile. For service messages, I don't need
another email address, so I'll just use hers.
Changing the profile name triggered boilerplate responses that Comcast
cares about and respects my gender identity.
It doesn't get any more official than gaining the respect of the cable company.
